Classes

  • The Senior Class
    (The Northern Ireland Conventional Vintage Ploughing Championship)

This Class is for Vintage Tractors and Ploughs and is limited to 20 Northern Ireland entries.  Those eligible for inclusion are the top 18 Northern Ireland finishers in the previous years Senior Class along with the top 2 finishers in the previous years Intermediate Class. Entries may also be accepted from visiting ploughmen representing other National Ploughing Associations (maximum 2 per country). The winner will be the “Northern Ireland Vintage Ploughing Champion”.

  •  The Intermediate Class

This Class is for Vintage Tractors and Ploughs. Entry in the appropriate Class will be arranged by the Association depending on the entrant’s previous experience and/or their performance at previous NIVPA Championships. Entries may also be accepted from visiting ploughmen from other countries.

  • The Ferguson Class

This Class is for Vintage Ferguson Tractors and Vintage Ferguson Ploughs and entries will be accepted on a “first come first served” basis.

  • The Junior Class

This Class is for Vintage Tractors and Ploughs being operated by persons over 13 and under 18 years of age on the day of the Competition. They are allowed to have verbal assistance but the assistant must remain on the Headland except when setting and removing the sighting poles.

  • The Classic Class
    (The Northern Ireland Classic Ploughing Championship)

This Class is for Classic Tractors and Classic Ploughs and entries will be accepted on a “first come first served” basis. (See later for Eligible equipment).

  • Single Furrow Class

This Class is for Classic Tractors using single furrow ploughs as originally designed as a Single furrow plough.

  • Reversible Class
    (The Northern Ireland Reversible Vintage Ploughing Championship)

This Class is for Reversible Vintage Tractor Ploughs with no Hydraulic turnover system.

  • The Exhibition Class

This Class is for Tractors and Ploughs which produce “High Cut” 8 inch ploughing.

  • The Horse Classes
    (The Northern Ireland Horse Ploughing Championship)

Classes for Everyday work and Exhibition work will be held if sufficient entries are received. The overall Winner will be named “The Northern Ireland Horse Ploughing Champion”. The top Northern Ireland finisher will represent Northern Ireland at any International Horse Ploughing Competitions in the future.

  • Other Classes

Any individual Class requested by any Vintage Tractor or Machinery Club which wants to take part and Contribute to the Associations Annual Event.
